The Siphon Coffee Maker

The Story of Siphon Brewing

You might be wondering, what is so special about the siphon brewing method? The siphon method was invented in the 1830s by a human named Loeff Berlin. The goal of this method was to use vapor pressure to produce coffee. The siphon method works by using vapor to force hot water into the upper chamber, where the coffee grounds are located. The heat and brewing time result in flavorful coffee, and once it's done, the brewed coffee goes back down, leaving the coffee grounds in the upper chamber and giving you a clean cup of coffee. This brewing method, temperature and brewing time, lets you taste the best of your coffee!

The siphon method is so fascinating that even science is involved, it looks as if it came out of a scientific lab! There is a lot of science built into it, its pressure pushes the water to the upper chamber and there is where the magic happens and the coffee ground combines with hot water. Then, as you turn down the temperature it reduces pressure and the heat on the lower chamber which causes the brewed coffee to come back down! Its an amazing design full of science behind it, which leaves every scientific human surprised. This is why the Siphon method has been studied a lot in the past years!

Brew Guide With Siphon

1. Soak Your Filter With Water

Soak the siphon filter in water for at least 5 minutes. This will avoid any unnecessary flavors. After soaking, place the filter into the bottom of the top hopper and hook it to the bottom of the hopper's glass tubing.

2. Fill Your Bottom Chamber

Fill the them chamber with hot water with 12 oz of water this is perfect for one cup of coffee

3. Place the Chambers together

Place the chambers together, but do not close them tightly just yet! They just need to be evenly in place. Then place the entire set above your heat.

4. Grind Your Coffee Beans

Meanwhile your water is heating up, prepare your coffee beans! This is the most important part. For the siphon method, you'll need to use coarser coffee grounds since this brewing method takes more time. This type of grind will let all coffee flavors to be extracted.

5. Seal Your chambers

As your water starts to heat up seal your chambers. you will see how the water in the bottom will rise into the hopper some will be left in the bottom but no worries, this won’t affect your brewing!

6. Place your coffee!

As the water starts boiling in the top hopper, once it reaches approximately 185 to 200 degrees, place your coffee grounds and start stirring with a paddle. This should take about 1 minute to brew!

7. Remove the siphon from the heat

After you have stirred for a minute remove the siphon from the heat and you’ll see how the brewed coffee will go down through the filter to the bottom chamber, give it another stir, and after a minute you’ll see how the ground coffee stays on the top hopper and your delicious brew is on the bottom ready to enjoy!

8. Enjoy!

Remove the hopper and serve! To have the most delicious cup of coffee, give the coffee a few minutes to cool and then serve in your favorite cup!

Conclusion

The magical part of brewing coffee is that you have the opportunity to experiment, with diffentent coffee beans, flavors and even brewing methods! The siphon method confirms this, because while you enjoy the most delicious cup of coffee, you have the opportunity to have fun and enjoy brewing coffee!
