Everything You Need to Know About an Americano Coffee
What is an Américano coffee?
The Américano coffee is a type of coffee that originated in Europe during WWII. It was made by American soldiers who found European coffee too strong for their liking. They asked local baristas to dilute the espresso with hot water, making it weaker and closer to American-style coffee. Eventually, this drink became known as the "Américano."
To make an Américano, you need to add hot water to a shot of espresso. The amount of water you use can vary, and it depends on your preference. A traditional Américano coffee contains about 6 to 8 ounces of water and one shot of espresso. Baristas typically serve it in a large cup. At 787 Coffee an Americano is served in a 12oz cup and as all of our drinks we use double espresso, specialty and single origin coffee from our coffee farm in Puerto Rico.
Why is Américano so popular?
One of the reasons why Américano coffee is so popular is that it has a lower caffeine content compared to other types of coffee. It's perfect for people who love the taste of coffee but don't want to consume too much caffeine. It's also versatile, and you can enjoy it with or without milk or sugar. Another reason why Américano coffee is so popular is its simplicity. It's easy to make, and it's a classic cup that coffee drinkers can enjoy any time of the day.
